Press Release: Karen Menn to Serve as Chairperson

Jul 20, 2009

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Mercy Hospice and Palliative Care, the oldest, community-based, non-profit hospice in Horry County, has selected Karen Menn, D.O., to serve as chairperson for the Mercy’s inaugural Mischief Night Masquerade Ball.

Menn has been involved in the Horry and Georgetown communities since 1991 when she and her husband, Joe, relocated to the area from Pennsylvania. A well-known physician in Murrells Inlet, Menn was forced to retire from the profession that she loved in 2007, due to a worsening hearing disorder. Needing to fill the large void left after retiring from practice, Menn began volunteering at Mercy Hospice in 2008 where she could still have the opportunity to educate others on sustaining a high quality of life.

Others serving on the Mischief Night Masquerade Ball committee include: Angela Basham, Fran Batz, Joan Grove, Mary Hardwick, Susie Jackson and Robyn Trudeau.
