She needed things to be quiet in Room 359 at Conway Medical Center. Or maybe it was Room 372. Maybe 343. Patricia Forister, 66, had been wheeled in and out of so many hospital rooms in the previous 11 days that Jamerson couldn’t remember which one Forister was in.

Jamerson, 42, needed to be able to pull her mother close, do whatever necessary to make her comfortable.

It was May 11, three days after Mother’s Day.
