Bedizened in masks with beads iridescent; fringed and frocked in colors effervescent; coiffed and capped with harlequin grace and mirth without measure on every face.
Such was the revelry as a gaggle of loyal supporters turned out on February 5th for Mercy Hospice & Palliative Care’s 2008 Mardi Gras Benefit at Dynamites at Dock Holidays in North Myrtle Beach.
Whether dining on hors d’oeuvres while placing bids at the silent auction; or gyrating to the syncopations of the Band of Oz; or waiting breathlessly for the naming of the $5000 Grand Prize Winner (ultimately three ladies split the treasure), all present were working for a higher cause: support of Mercy’s non-profit mission to bring care and comfort to the dying and their families in Horry, Georgetown and Marion Counties.
In all, thanks to the generosity of those attending, the Mardi Gras Benefit raised over $12,000 for the Hospice’s work making it one of the most successful in Mercy’s history.
